Child of Man

The human Beatrice, still to become the witch of Rokkenjima. Her design gives a certain feel of a countryside, with a bit of independency.

Clairvaux

[EP7 character spoiling (without knowledge of the episode itself)]

Spoiling a little from EP7, the woman in the picture is apparently named Clairvaux of Bernardus (Claire Bernardus). She seems to be based on Van Dine's wife, Claire de Lisle, who happens to be a portrait painter (Umineko features a number of portraits...). Other influence is Saint Bernard of Clairvaux (see the switched names), a french abbot from the 11th century. It seems like a valid connection especially as a famous writer Dante included him in his epic Divine Comedy as Dante's last guide through the Empyrean, while Umineko has many connections to the play, not the least being Beatrice herself.

By the fans she's been nicknamed Mintrice, because her color theme is mainly white and mint, while sharing facial expressions with Beatrice.

Can't wait to get into EP7 when the english translation is released.

Detective's Pride

The Detective, Furudo Erika, drawn during a certain maths lesson. It's inspired by her last scenes in the Dawn of the Golden Witch. She is the sort of character you can love and hate at the same time. I most definitely love her though!

Reaper within

This piece was drawn over 2-3 lessons of physics. That is one of the lessons I pay most attention on, so it takes a little more time than pics drawn during history lessons, for example.
Actually, that is a bad comparison. I don't draw much on history lessons either, because I have to write all the time. The amount of text to be written down is inhuman. ^^'

Characters are Furude Rika from the murder mystery series Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Bernkastel from it's spiritual successor, Umineko no Naku Koro ni. Bernkastel, the witch of miracles, seems to be some kind of separate entity born from Rika's struggles in Higurashi. Later in the series she shows a more cruel side of herself, different from the impression Rika gave in Higurashi. The drawing depicts this "dark side".

Grand Opening and the Point

It is 4th of September today. In 1827 it was the day that Turku, the largest city of Finland at that time, was almost completely destroyed in a fire. In 1870 french emperor Napoleon III was dethroned and French Third Republic was born. In 1985 the first fullerene molecule of carbon was discovered. In 2010 this blog was found.
...Well, even if it's quite underwhelming when compared to the events before, I'm pretty sure all other small things have gone unnoticed on this date through the years. It may not be written in history books, but I hope it can bring joy to some people during it's lifetime (for example to me, at least. :)

The Beginning
From the start of this semester, I've noticed I've been drawing quite a lot during the lessons, in my school notebooks. Of course I've done it before, but now it seems more common. And as I came to notice that I seem to draw better at school than at home (wonder if it's the desk or something else), I wanted to share my drawings. But because they are on notebooks, they're coated with an appropriate amount of squares. I didn't dare to put kind of incomplete art on sites like deviantArt, but then I thought of the fact that I draw a couple of pics almost every day. A blog was probably an appropriate platform.

Even though the notebook is wasted when talking about it's original purpose, it will gain significance here!

The Point
So, the point of this blog is to share my "schoolworks". Of course a blog isn't a place to just dump in any crap, so I won't post everything and I'm confident they're clear enough even with squares to be published somewhere. Plus, all won't be from notebooks. Sometimes I'll post something from clear white paper.
Another point is of course to gain some attention with my drawings. You readers serve another good purpose, which is giving your five cents about the pictures. I would also like to finish the pictures which get most thumbs up. And see if I can take the next step, maybe sell them at a convention in the future?

What to expect
My drawings are mostly manga style fanart drawn with pencil, so people who don't like it, don't get your hopes high. Though I might do some alternate art sometime. I do have original art as well, and plan to make a comic of my own sometime.
And before someone asks, my favourite series are for example the When They Cry -series (Umineko and Higurashi), so except a lot of them. I'm open for suggestions though. However, I can't refer to characters I'm not familiar with at school, so they'll be done on my "freetime" ;D

I hope you'll enjoy, and let your opininions be heard!
